Beer Shampoo: All Froth?

The television commercials, with their ingenious concepts and wacky executions can almost instantly deify a product in a person’s mind. Sometimes people are so influenced by advertisements that they’ve already purchased a product in their minds, before actually buying it. So taking cue from instances like these, a shampoo maker has come up with a rather daft advertisement that features a man with long and glossy locks, urging you (males) to buy a bottle of beer shampoo with the help of all his props, side-kicks and uncanny shenanigans. Unsurprisingly, the advertisement was received well by the viewers not for its so called resourceful hair product, but for its amusing script and zany presentation. However, the advertisement did manage to pique people’s interests about the possible implications of using a shampoo made out of beer, which is also the reason why you may be reading this piece.

Is it beer shampoo, or a shampoo containing beer?
The writer of this article would like to believe that most of you already know the answer to this question, but for those na├»ve and gullible souls who’re looking for one, the answer forms the latter part of the question. Generally, products like these are regular shampoos that contain a hint of beer in them. From a manufacturing standpoint, it wouldn’t be feasible or cost effective for these shampoo makers to constitute large quantities of beer in their products. And as the beer-mongers would tell you, why waste a shampoo made out of beer on hair?

So is a shampoo containing beer beneficial?
Strictly speaking, a beer shampoo is just like any regular shampoo, which means that the benefits you derive from using it would be akin to the benefits provided by the shampoo that you’re using currently. Why the fuss then, you may ask? The answer is attractive marketing, packaging, and innovative promotional and advertising techniques. A product of this kind may or may not provide added benefits to its users, but the maker certainly cannot rely solely on this proposition to sell the product. This is the reason why makers have to depend upon some clever gimmick that can help their products gain considerable traction in the market. Like in the case of beer shampoo, beer is the USP (universal selling point) of the product. What also apparently worked in beer shampoo’s favor is the love that people have for beer. Clearly, the shampoo is a play on a man’s beer affinity, but no one seems to be complaining.

Beer as conditioner
According to hair experts, having beer in your shampoo may or may not make your hair glossy or shiny, but having beer as your hair conditioner definitely will. A prominent cosmetic dermatologist has asserted: “Since it (beer) has silica, minerals, amino acids and vitamin B, it can be used as a conditioner, as all these ingredients help in forming the basic hair structure”. Evidently, beer can act as a good conditioner for your hair.
To condition your hair with beer, apply it on your hair shaft for about five minutes after you’ve washed your hair with shampoo. An important thing to note during this process is that the beer being used must be flat beer. If this is not possible, boil the beer for a few minutes and apply it after it’s cooled off for quite a while. Rinse the beer off with cold and plain water, after you’re done conditioning your hair. You can also use a shampoo to rinse off the beer, in order to avoid your hair smelling of alcohol.

Hair mask
Another added advantage of using beer on your hair is that it can prove to be a very good hair mask when used in tandem with other hair-friendly ingredients. One of the best hair masks you can concoct using beer is by pairing it with egg yolk. To use this hair mask, first mix the combination thoroughly such that there’s no individual trace of any of the two ingredients. Apply the mixture evenly on your hair and roots, and cover it with a shower cap for about 15 minutes. Wash your hair with a shampoo later on to experience your hair look glossy.

Alopecia - Male Pattern Baldness Causes and Prevention

Male pattern baldness or androgenic alopecia is a common problem that affects innumerable men due to various reasons. This type of baldness is often seen in males after the age of 40, wherein the hair loss is faster and more extensive. In this article, let us see the causative factors and how you can prevent male pattern baldness.
Physicians also refer male pattern baldness as “androgenetic alopecia”, which means that a combination of hormonal imbalance and genetic (hereditary) predisposition is required to diagnose this condition. However, the exact cause of this type of alopecia is unknown.

What is male pattern baldness?

Androgenic alopecia is a condition in which a male suffers from progressive thinning of hair with falling that usually occurs in males aged 40 or more. However, this type of alopecia is affecting young adults, and as their age progresses, their hair fall becomes worse that may lead them to total baldness. According to healthcare experts, worldwide, 50% of men will suffer from this type of alopecia at some point, in which they will lose 75% of their total head hair. In androgenic alopecia, men may experience hair fall from the top, side or front of the head. However, men can prevent this type of baldness by visiting their physician as soon as they notice extensive hair fall.

What are the causes of male pattern baldness?

The main etiological factor associated with androgenic alopecia is hormonal imbalance. A male sexual hormone known as androgen helps in regulating hair growth. In androgenic alopecia, the levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), an androgen, is on the higher side due to hormonal imbalance. Due to excessive amount of DHT in body, men suffer from androgenic alopecia, thus it can affect young adults as well.
Other important causative factor that leads to male pattern baldness is genetic predisposition, which means people having strong familial history of androgenic alopecia have greater chance of developing this type of baldness. Alopecia can also occur due to some chronic underlying medical condition, scalp infections, nutritional deficiency disorders, thyroid problems, and bad effects of certain medications like cancer drugs, anabolic steroids, etc.

How to prevent male pattern baldness

Innumerable men search for various medications, cosmetics, and techniques to overcome hair loss problem. Majority of them go for artificial hair transplant, but it is not a preventive step, though it is considered as the standard treatment for alopecia. The proper management of androgenic alopecia is to prevent thinning and falling of hair.

·         Medications – Medications are available in the form of pill and topical application (solution) to prevent male pattern baldness. Pills are prescribed to block the secretion of DHT, and topical application to stimulate the hair follicles, which promotes re-growth of hair.

o   Finasteride:
Finasteride is a well-known drug prescribed by physicians for treating male pattern baldness. It inhibits the enzyme known as 5alpha-reductase – that converts testosterone into DHT. By inhibiting this enzyme Finasteride stops the conversion of testosterone into DHT; thereby decreasing the levels of DHT and preventing hair fall by slowing down the hair-loss process. Nearly, 90% of men experienced re-growth of hair with the help of Finasteride. It is important to use this drug with utmost care, because you may fail to get desired effects due to irregular treatment. Hence, it is recommended to consult your doctor before taking this medicinal drug.

o   Minoxidil:
Minoxidil is a topical lotion/solution that is applied directly on the scalp to prevent hair loss. You should apply it with extreme care, and follow the directions provided on the medicine leaflet. Minoxidil enlarges and stimulates hair follicle which helps promote hair re-growth. For satisfactory results, you should use this solution on regular basis. However, one may experience irritation, redness and flaking of scalp. In such case, ask your physician for further usage of the lotion.

One can also use natural remedies to prevent male pattern baldness. Remedies such as saw palmetto, nettle root, mustard seeds, cinnamon and olive oil are found helpful in preventing androgenic alopecia. It is advisable to consult a well-qualified herbalist before using these natural remedies.

Diet Plays Important Role in Muscle Building

Being fit is very essential for a person these days, especially with the kind of decadence human fitness is going through. And in order to stay healthy, exercise and diet are indispensable to man. The exercise part of fitness is mostly taken care of by activities such as running, cycling, swimming, weight lifting, etc. However, all these exercises are invariably dependent on our diet, which is principally important in muscle building, i.e. weight lifting. In fact, what we eat before and after a gym session constitutes of equal if not more importance than the weightlifting activity itself.

Proteins are good, carbs are better!

The foremost thing that a novice muscle builder should keep in mind that is that he needs his fill of carbohydrates to make him last through a rigorous workout. Most people are easily victimized by the myth that carbohydrates can instantly add up on the calorie count consumption. The next part of this myth is that proteins would provide you with the adequate amount of energy for making it through your weights session.
For the first part of the myth, it is true that carbohydrates stack up on the calorie count, but so do all other nutrients as well. Factually, carbohydrates are actually what keep you going through a long session. The reason for this is because they use very little oxygen to break into glucose. While proteins and other nutrients are hard to break down for the body, so it takes much longer for these nutrients to break down. This means that it is perfectly possible for you to not find enough energy to sustain yourself through a workout in spite of loading up on proteins, as they probably have not been broken down into energy by the body yet.

Fats for endurance, protein for recovery

According to experts who’ve studied the interaction between human exercising and diet for years now, proteins are best used after a workout session. This is because proteins have the innate qualities of repairing muscles after a heavy workout session. If you have a good amount of proteins in your body before a workout, chances are that you may not last for an entire workout session, but your resultant muscle soreness would definitely be healed by the intake.
Another popular myth that a lot of people suffer from is that fats are bad for health, and end up blowing the body out of proportion. While this may be true if they’re consumed on a regular basis without any amount of exercise whatsoever, but the application of this myth in case of a regular weightlifter who eats a decent amount of fats daily as well, is highly improbable. The reason behind this is that fats act as a fuel for your body when it engages in vigorous activities like sprinting, weightlifting, etc. So, quite contrarily to what many people think, fats are actually good for you, if you are aiming at a heavy workout.

Eat before you train

Many people believe in not having any food at all before commencing a work out or training session. This is strictly not recommendable because in such a situation the body stands to lose out on important compounds and enzymes such as the amino acids, which take very long to build and accumulate in the body. Moreover, exercising on an empty stomach won’t prove fruitful in the short run as well. People undertaking heavy exercises such as weightlifters can readily tell the difference between the results of a workout session that was undertaken with an empty stomach, and the one which wasn’t.
A very simple way of putting this point across would be: ‘food is energy’, as we’ve all studied. However, what we don’t think on, or we forget is that to gain energy, one has to expend certain amount of energy as well, which is only possible if you have food in your stomach. Therefore, eat well, train hard, and don’t forget to marvel at your end result.

How to Fix Hair Problems at Home

There are many things that can damage hair, for example hair dryer, styling irons. Hair exposure to the sun and air pollution can also harm your hair, as well. Luckily, there are many techniques regarding how to repair broken hair quickly at home.

Keep your Hair Short:

One of the most typical hair troubles for women is actually split ends. It can be resolved by easy trimming. It can be done on your own but don't hesitate to find a hair specialist especially if you are unpleasant with the idea. You can pick the hair along the splitting ends. If nearly all of the options are damaged, reduce about 1 / 4 of an inch to avoid splitting up towards the roots.

How to Shampoo your Hair:

Reduce your utilization of shampoo to 2 to three times a week. Search for organic or even natural hair shampoo. Stick to the directions to be used but put it on only around the scalp as well as roots. Keep the hair's natural essential oil by not really shampooing the tips of the hair.

Hair Conditioner:

Conditioning your hair is also an essential step on how you can repair your broken hair. It might treat damage caused by color and heat application products (for example the curling hair products). Go for root conditioning once in a week. Condition your hair by applying the conditioner from root to tip. Eggs are an excellent way to condition your hair especially if you have dry hair.

Never dry your hair by rubbing it, always tie a towel around it and let it air dry. Air drying is always better than blow drying. The experts also recommend the same method. If you blow dry your hair you are causing damage to the hair, as blow drying weakens the strands by thinning the hair.

Oil Therapy:

Remember one thing that you do not need a hair spa specialist for a good oil therapy. Look for a good product such as any organic oil which includes natural herbs. This process of oil therapy will not only nourish your hair but will also works as aromatherapy. The best way is to mix some rose oil with the herbal one for better fragrance.

Stick your Hair with Honey:

Honey helps repair damages to the hair caused by sun and the hair straightening iron. Honey helps repair damages to the hair caused by sun and the hair straightening iron.
