Hair Care Products

Hair is made up of a protein called keratin. With the increasing environmental dust and dirt our hair tends to fall, dullness appears and baldness are all part of the bad hair care regime. Sometimes it happens due to medical issues like a thyroid problem or diabetes and sometimes it can be caused by not taking care and improper hygiene. Hair care products help treat the problem without too many side effects. There are different products for different kind of hair related problems. Sometimes there may not be a 100% hair re-growth or treatment but sometimes there may be substantial improvement too.

The FDA has approved two drugs that can be taken for hair loss treatment. Those are Minoxidil (Rogaine) and Finasteride (propecia). Both these drugs have proved to help in hair re-growth and growing new hair. The results last till the medication is taken and the effects of the medicines stop once you stop taking the medicine. A hair specialist is the best person to suggest you what will be the best treatment for you for your hair problem.

Minoxidil
Treatment with Minoxidil or Rogain may help hair grow for some but once it is discontinued the new hair will fall off. Shampoos containing Minoxidil may also help in preventing hair fall or may generate hair re-growth. Products with a high dose of Minoxidil is more effective in hair growth that products with a low dose of Minoxidil.

Propecia or Finasteride
Propecia has been proven in slowing hair loss and growing new hair. As with most medicines the use of propecia also must not go on indefinitely. Propecia has helped over 90% men and post menopausal woman using it. When propecia is combined with Minoxidil in hair loss products like shampoo treatments, and topical Rogaine® solutions, the results achieved with Propecia® may be enhanced.

There are plenty of other hair care products in the market which are unfortunately not FDA approved. Using FDA approved products gives a security about safely using the particular product without worrying about side effects and any product related ill-effects. Any approved hair care product should be used over unapproved or unauthorized product even if they are popular.

Hair care is not a one-day practice but a lifelong regime that one needs to take care of. Apart from medicines, a good nutritious diet and physical exercises help. The moment you realize you are losing hair, go and see a medical practitioner who will assess the problem and suggest the right treatment for you.
