Healthy diet for lustrous hair

There are so many people who believe that the day their hair behave themselves, they have a happy and productive day. But how can we control the condition of our hair, keep them healthy and lustrous always? Simple, just eat healthy.

The cells of our hair follicles have certain metabolic requirements that need to be met for their favorable growth. In other words, proper diet with the right proportion of vitamin, minerals and proteins can ensure a healthy scalp, harboring rich and shiny hair. Besides this, a good proportion of fatty acids help to avoid problems like dry and damaged hair.

Some of the common problems of hair and their dietary solutions

  • Proteins- hair is made up of keratins, a form of proteins that gets withered away by pollution, protein deficient diet, harsh shampoos and sun. So keeping a good amount of protein in your diet helps replenish the lost keratin in your hair.
  • Iron- Thinning of hair, with hair loss could be because of iron deficiency leading to anemia. Eating iron rich food such as red meat, legumes, eggs, whole grain cereals, dried fruits and green leafy vegetables helps to control this deficiency.
  • Vitamin E- One if the reason for hair loss is also deficiency of vitamin E which can be supplemented by having green leafy vegetable, nuts and whole wheat grains. Besides, it also adds glow to your skin.
  • Vitamin B- Deficiency of this can lead to weak brittle hair with split ends. This can be supplemented by eating green vegetables, beans, sunflower seeds, nuts and peas.
  • Vitamin C- besides helping in avoiding dandruff, it also adds shine to your hair. Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, lime melons and berries are rich in vitamin C.
  • Vitamin A- known to strengthen hair roots by increasing blood circulation.It is found in carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, broccoli and apricots.

Along with a balanced diet, avoiding smoking, alcohol and junk food does wonders for the quality and quantity of you hair. Eat well and make your hair the crowning glory.
